The Court
Tucked within a mature country garden, this thatched cottage dates back to the 1700s. Originally built as three separate dwellings for local farm workers, it has gently evolved over the centuries. When we arrived with our growing family, the cottage still existed as two semi-detached homes. Over time, we carefully restored and connected the spaces, shaping it into one harmonious and much-loved family home. Since opening The Court to guests in 2023, it has been a pleasure to hear how much people enjoy the calm and character the house and garden hold.
The Court is perfect for special gatherings with family and friends. It sleeps eight across four bedrooms and features two log fires, a games-room, a large AGA alongside a conventional oven, and thoughtfully designed interiors that are creative, practical, and family-friendly. Many original features remain, now complemented by a new gallery entrance and rear garden views brought into the house through bi-fold glass doors.
A separate office, utility room, dog shower, outdoor playhouse, a secret orchard and two garden terrace seating areas with plenty of garden games help ensure there’s a favourite spot for everyone.
“Iveta was the most perfect host. The house is immaculate yet there was no scary list of ‘rules’ , just respectful guidance.
The beds and bedding were very comfortable and high quality. The garden was kept well too, the perfect safe haven for children and dogs.
The area is stunning with no traffic issues so getting about was stressless.
My autistic son was so happy here, lots of little quiet zones for him to enjoy as well as the playground.
All appliances work well and the kitchen is brilliantly equipped.
